From 15–21 April 2025, the shores of Ostia in Rome, Italy, played host to the Techno 293 and T293Plus European Championships. Organized by Lega Navale Italiana Ostia, the event welcomed 274 competitors from 16 nations, gathering the continent’s most promising young windsurfers for an exciting week of racing.
The opening days brought extreme conditions with huge swell and strong winds, forcing the cancellation of racing on both Tuesday and Wednesday. But once the weather window opened, the fleet made the most of it—10 to 11 races were completed over just three days, showcasing incredible resilience and skill across all divisions.
The championship saw tight battles and standout performances across all age groups and fleets. Antal Körtvélyesi (HUN) was a standout in the U13 division, claiming the overall U13 crown.
In the Techno 293 Junior divisions (U15), Olivia Sanchez Moral (ESP) took the Girls’ title, while Evangelos Kyriazakos (GRE) claimed victory in the Boys’ fleet after a dominant week of racing.
At the Techno 293 Youth level (U17), Martina Bárbara Tor (ESP) stood at the top of the Girls’ podium, with Pavlos Kallitsis (GRE) securing the Boys’ gold after an intense battle among a strong Greek contingent.
In the Techno 293 Plus Overall standings (Open U19 and O19 combined), Teresa Medde (ITA) was crowned the top woman, while Panagiotis Ioannou (GRE) captured the men’s overall title, highlighting the next generation of windsurfing talent stepping into the spotlight.
Italy, Greece, Spain, Hungary, and Turkey were among the top-performing nations, each placing multiple riders on the podiums—highlighting the depth of talent in European windsurfing.
Despite a dramatic start, the 2025 Europeans proved once again that the Techno 293 classes are built on passion, performance, and perseverance. Next up: the Techno 293 & T293Plus World Championships, taking place from 16–23 August 2025 in Pwllheli, Wales, United Kingdom. Registration is now open, and riders from around the globe are invited to join what promises to be the highlight of the international Techno calendar.
