The 2026 Techno293 & Techno293Plus World Championships officially get underway today at the Mark Warner Phokaia Beach Resort in Foça, Türkiye. From 03 to 09 April, young windsurfers from around the world gather for one of the most important events of the season.

Today marks the start of registration and the opening ceremony, as competitors, coaches and teams arrive on site and prepare for a full week of racing. Over 250 sailors from 20 countries are set to compete across all divisions.

The Championships bring together the global Techno293 community, with racing in U13, U15, U17 and Techno293 Plus fleets. The event once again underlines the importance of the class as the leading pathway for youth windsurfing and a key step for athletes progressing towards the Youth Olympic Games.

“We have worked closely with the Turkish Sailing Federation and Tahe to ensure that the event is delivered at the highest level,” said Piotr Oleksiak. “Despite a few unexpected rainy days in the lead-up, the forecast for the racing period looks excellent, with consistent wind and sunshine expected throughout the week.”

Over the coming days, sailors will compete in a full racing programme across multiple race areas, with Foça expected to deliver consistent and fair racing conditions. The venue, in cooperation with the Turkish Sailing Federation and the local organising team, is ready to host a high-level international competition.

The Class looks forward to an exciting week of racing and to welcoming sailors, coaches and supporters from around the world to Foça.
