After three days of racing in highly varied conditions, between 7 and 9 races have been completed depending on the category, already guaranteeing the success of this 2026 European Championship. The varying winds allowed sailors of all sizes and styles to enjoy and compete at their best. The last two days promise to be decisive in determining the winners.
The very unsettled weather conditions at the end of July in Northern Europe kept the organizers very busy trying to run as many races as possible each day. After a first day of moderate winds with some heavy rains, strong wind disrupted the second day, creating a rough sea that made it difficult for the competitors and race committees who had to keep their boats at anchor. The decision was made to maintain the day’s races, which was greatly appreciated by the experienced sailors. Conversely, the third day proved nerve-wracking for both the racers and the race committees, who had to draw upon all their experience to quickly adjust the course layouts. The result was very positive, as both the racers and coaches greatly appreciated the responsiveness and the rapid succession of races whenever conditions allowed.
As a result, between 2 and 3 races were able to be run each day, bringing the total to between 7 to 9 races by the end of the third day.
On land, the grassy area at the heart of the club was transformed throughout the week into an ideal village where racers prepared their equipment and exchanged advices with their coaches or parents in a very friendly atmosphere. Discussions and mutual support among the competitors from the 21 participating countries were plentiful in this wonderful forum for sharing, which is the very essence of the Techno class.
The weather forecast predicts a gradual improvement over the next two days, with alternating showers and increasingly sunny spells. The tacticians will once again be able to play with the clouds to find the best tacks!
