A more promising start to day 4 of racing at the T293 European Championships, and the hope of at last being able to complete three races for the first time in this championship. [more]Expectation soon turned to disappointment, for some, as it was decided that since “marginal planing” conditions existed for the first two races today no more races could be scheduled.

Today’s results leave the championship finely balanced in the youth division – only 1 point separates the top 3 girls; and 4 points separate 2nd and 5th placed sailors in the boys.

Ofek Elimelech (Israel) consolidated his position at the top with two second places – consistency brings its rewards! Oleksandr Goncharenko (Ukraine) moved back into silver medal position with a win in the final race today. In the Girls Mariam Sekhposyan (Russia) also moved into silver position with a first and second today.

Over in the junior division (under 15 years of age) there was no change in yesterday’s podium positions of both boys and girls. However, the ‘stand-out’ sailor of today in the boys fleet was Yoav Cohen (Israel) with two bullets – he may yet regret the two “black flag disqualifications” on day 2 of the competition!

Katy Spychakov (Israel) will feel very confident going into the final day after consolidating her position at the top of the junior girls with two first places today.
