A title that sums up the Techno293Plus Open fleet. A fleet dominated by Japanese sailors, who turned up in numbers here in Quiberon. [more]
The Techno293Plus is a national windsurfing class for the universities and Japan can boast of a fleet of over 500 sailors.
Today the Open fleet went out on the water first together with the Youth Women. As was the case during previous days, we did not start without a delay. This time the clouds and drizzle effectively stopped the wind and we had to wait until 14:00 for the races to begin.
Again, it paid off to wait. Great sailing conditions and the race committee conducted three spectacular back to back races for all fleets. Everything right next to the sailing centre.
In the Open it is Iwasaki Yuta leading the fleet but anything can change tomorrow as there is only a two-point difference between the third and sixth sailor in the ranking.
Leading in the Open Women in Mika Yamauchi from Japan and in the Youth Women fleet Giorgia Speciale from Italy.
In the Youth Men fleets racing started later in the day with the wind well established, sometimes exceeding 20 knots. Those ashore had a great view of the sailors going around the M course and the sailors themselves had a chance to check their max speed recorded by the tracking. With one day to go Fabien Pianazza from France is leading.
Racing starts tomorrow at 10:00 with the Youth Men.
