The last leg of The Baltic Sea Cup has finished this weekend (22-26 July) in Russia’s St. Petersburg. The beautiful city hosted a regatta for 70 competitors from the Baltic Area. [more]  The young windsurfers competed in Navigator (Russia’s start class with 5.0 sail), Techno293 and RS:X Youth classes. 


The organizers really stood up to the task of organizing this regatta. Together with sponsor: the mobile operator Megafone they organized an excursion for all competitors as well as providing prizes for the top spots.
 
The wind conditions varied throughout the 4 days with both planing and non-planing conditions. Temperatures around 25C and water temp 19C Hercules Port was definitely a good place to have an event.
 
The Techno293 class had the biggest amount of competitors. And the competition was hard up until the last race. Andrej Zagajnov won the overall U15 category with Klaudia Mankucka from Poland coming top in girls.
 
In U17 boys the Russian team had no competition with Mihail Lobov just ahead of Artem Murashev. Latvian Marta Luize Avercenko winning in the girls’ category.
 
The Baltic Sea Cup is growing in numbers each year. The overall ranking showed Latvians taking almost all the trophies home, leaving just one for Estonia. Other teams are looking to change this next year.
