An Exciting Event for Youth Windsurfing in a Premier Location
The Techno293 Class is thrilled to announce that the Turkish Sailing Federation has been selected to host the 2026 Techno293 and Techno293Plus World Championships in Izmir, Turkey. Known for its vibrant sailing community and excellent windsurfing conditions, Izmir promises to provide a spectacular setting for the world’s best young windsurfers.
The dates for the championship will be confirmed at a later stage as part of the planning process. as the Class focuses on its upcoming participation in the selection process for the Youth Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in Dakar, Senegal, in 2026. Upon successful selection, the calendar would be agreed with World Sailing to fulfill IOC qualification requirements.
“The Turkish Sailing Federation has for years strongly promoted youth windsurfing and their Techno293 program,” said Piotr Oleksiak, General Secretary of the International Windsurfing Association (IWA). “The Turkish team is well recognised in the community, and we are happy to bring the event to Turkey.”
With the World Championships now secured, the Techno293 Class is looking ahead to find hosts for the 2026 continental championships.
