Today was the first day of racing in Sopot for the Junior and Youth Techno293 sailors. U17 and U15 race on separate race courses, one situated in front of the club and the other next to Sopot’s pier. 12 races are planned for the whole regatta, which gives an average of two per day for each fleet. The conditions on the first day however did not allow the race committee to conduct the races for the U17 girls. So they will start first tomorrow.
“Today unfortunately the conditions were not too good. Suitable wind conditions were forecast for 17:00, and we were counting on the breeze to come. Just before 17:00 we had 6kts and decided to start races for the boys. Due to general recalls we had to restart the races a couple of times and during that time the wind dropped a little and we were in for some more waiting. When the wind picked up again we managed to conduct the races for the boys,” said Ewa Jodlowska, the PRO for the event.
After two races in the boys U17 fleet it is the local sailor Aleksander Przychodzen in the lead. Second is Kamil Ugniewski, third Fabien Pianazza from France.
In the U15 boys it is Eyal Zror and Roi Hillel from Israel in the lead, third is Mathis Ghio from France. In the girls fleet Marta Monge from Italy leads ahead of Elisa Jariel and Mathilde Garandeau from France.
