Competitors in the 2013 Techno 293 European Championships have been welcomed to the Nautical Centre in Eilat, a place where the sun always shines, with an impressive display of country flags flying at the Opening Ceremony. [more]131 competitors are taking part in the championship, from 17 countries plus Israel. Two countries new to the international scene, Slovenia and Slovakia, have joined the European line up and are a sure sign that the Techno 293 Class is continuing to grow.
The Practice Race has been run and everyone is enjoying the wonderful hospitality and friendly atmosphere.
2 races a day are planned. Wind at the start of the competition looks light, despite the previous four months of good wind! However, confidence is high that the wind will return by the end of the championship. In the meantime competitors will have to learn to take advantage of wind shifts and gusts which should make for interesting racing.
