The 1st NZ Techno Nationals in conjunction with the inaugural RSX Nationals were recently held at Takapuna Beach NZ. [more]

Conditions were light except for the 1st day when the fleet was smacked with large waves and 20 knot winds.

The eventual winner for the boys was Richard Ellis and the girls division was won by Hannah Linkhorn. Hannah also won the spot prize of a new Bic surfboard made donated by Roger Tweedle, the distributor of the Technos.

This group showed the benefits of some time on the water and training at Kohimarama YC under the supervision of Techno coach, David Robertson.

The fleet of 6 was made up of the 1st shippment of boards to recently arrive in NZ and holidays took its toll on numbers as well, overall the number of boards in Auckland is 20 and interest is extremely high around the yacht clubs and numbers are expected to grow rapidly. The number of girls to boys appears to be roughly 50/50.

NZ will have trials later in the season to select a team to attend this years Worlds in Italy
